Put simply, genealogy is a record of your family members and their ancestors. Many people think it is just a boring list of names and dates. But family history is much more than that. It includes all the genealogy stuff, of course, but it can strengthen your understanding of your heritage and bring you closer to your living family, especially when you do it together.
Family history can include pictures of your recent birthdays, or more distant stories like the events surrounding your birth. What about recordings of your grandma telling stories, or newspaper articles from hundreds of years ago detailing things your ancestors have done? Yes, that is all family history.

All of this is a way of celebrating your heritage. We will spend the next few posts showing how you can get started. If you would like to suggest questions about what we should cover, please submit a comment below.
