
You can certainly use a tablet to keep your data. However, it is important to be aware that a tablet is less versatile than a laptop or desktop computer. Also, some tablets, such as a Kindle, are not suitable. So yes, tablets can certainly be used, but you need to be aware of the limitations.
There are two major issues with using tablets. The first is that, by definition, a tablet does not have an attached keyboard. They all have an on-screen keyboard, though, so if you are comfortable adding information that way that is fine. The second is that all tablets are handheld. That can make it awkward to enter data.
Both of these problems can be addressed by purchasing a separate keyboard and/or a tablet stand. When those two items are attached your tablet functions pretty much like a small laptop computer. Just bear in mind that those items are an additional expense.
